1. Collaboration with McLean Hospital
Universidad San Francisco de Quito and Hospital McLean are actively collaborating to develop campaigns to improve mental health education in Ecuador.
In order to increase mental health awareness and reduce the stigma often associated with psychiatric disorders; McLean Hospital and Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), through the USFQ Mental Health Center collaborated to develop innovative campaigns, trainings, and events that capture interest to improve mental health education throughout Ecuador.
Education and awareness are key elements of McLean's mission. The hospital is deeply committed to promote the knowledge and understanding of psychiatric disorders and their treatments worldwide. Mclean Hospital is taking its expertise to the rest of the world through a thoughtful, multi-pronged approach that includes public and professional education. The hospital is also working to improve the general understanding of mental health to foster compassion and understanding for people who live with psychiatric disorders.
In March 2019, McLean Hospital and USFQ presented a multi-day conference focused on providing mental health professionals with knowledge of best practices. It was an opportunity to learn from case studies and in-depth training on some of the most advanced clinical treatments for depression, anxiety, substance abuse and self-harm. In October, the collaboration created educational workshops for parents and educators on anxiety in the classroom. Through international collaborations, such as the one with USFQ, McLean is fulfilling its commitment to improve access to high-quality psychiatric care, research and education, educating the world.
2. Collaboration with IOCDF (International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation)
The International Foundation for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
(OCD Foundation) is a donor-supported non-profit organization.
The Foundation aims to improve the quality of life for people with OCD and related disorders by:
-Providing resources and support to people affected by OCD, people with OCD and related disorders, their families, friends and loved ones.
-Promoting awareness of OCD and related disorders to the OCD community and the general public.
Increase the access to effective treatment through:
-Educating mental health professionals about evidence-based treatments.
-Providing a forum for professional collaboration and networking.
-Supporting research on the causes and treatments for OCD and related disorders.
The IOCDF and the WSC have a strategic collaboration to disseminate information with scientific evidence and connect patients and families around the world.
